Pioneering Oregon Wineries

Flerchinger Winery
(1983-2003)

In 1983 Don Flerchinger and his son Joe planted a five acre vineyard near Hood River on the Columbia Gorge. The father and son team jointly made the wine and released their first vintage in 1994.

The wines were moderately priced so there was value for money. Flerchinger wines won numerous awards.

Operating the winery was truly a family affair and everyone looked forward to each year’s harvest. During harvest Flerchinger family members and many of their friends helped pick and crush the grapes.

From the tasting room on sunny days visitors could gaze out over the Columbia River and see both Mt Hood and Mt Adams in Washington.

With such beautiful views the winery and tasting room served over the years as a venue for a number of weddings including the weddings of several Flerchinger family members.

The Flerchinger family home is located adjacent to the vineyard and winery.

The winery was located at 4200 Post Canyon Drive, Hood River, OR 97301.
