Hood River Vineyards
(1981- present)

Hood River VineyardsIn the early 1970’s Cliff and Eileen Blanchette starting making fruit wine using fruit from their orchards. In 1974 the Blanchette’s planted a one-acre block of Riesling. The vineyard eventually grew to twelve (12) acres. Their winery was bonded in 1981, the same year they released their first wines. Both Cliff and Eileen shared winemaking duties.

Hood River Vineyards is located at 4693 Westwood Drive, Hood River, Oregon 97031.


 

Fun Facts

In 1993 the Blanchettes sold the winery to Bernie & Annie Lerch who continue to operate the winery.
Hood River Vineyards has the distinction of being the first winery in the Columbia Gorge to make wine from Oregon grown vinifera wine grapes.
