Nehalem Bay Winery
(1974-Present)

First winery on the
Oregon Coast

Nehalem Bay WineryNehalem Bay Winery is not located in a vineyard or in “Wine Country” but on one of the prettiest sections of the northern Oregon coast.  The winery was started by Patrick McCoy, a former broadcaster, in 1973 when he purchased the old, abandoned Mohler Creamery near the coastal town of Nehalem.  The creamery had been a part of the Tillamook Creamery Co-op producing cheese, milk and butter from 1909 to 1959.

McCoy renovated many of the old buildings and started making and selling fruit and berry wines.  In 1981 a selection of grapes wines was added.  The winery continues to be a real tourist attraction.

Upon Patrick McCoy’s passing in 1993 the winery was purchased by Ray Shackelford who operates the winery today.

Nehalem Bay Winery is located at 34965 Highway 53, Nehalem, OR 97131.
