Dick Troon, Troon Vineyard
Applegate Valley
Dick Troon was a southern Oregon wine pioneer. He planted his vineyard in 1972, one of the first in Southern Oregon, and opened his winery 'Troon Vineyard' in 1976. He planted Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and other varieties that most “experts” said would never flourish.
His most popular wine by far was “Druid’s Fluid”. Troon passed away in 2011.
Friends said that his optimism, hard work, and foresight contributed to his winery’s success and the development of the Southern Oregon wine industry. His winery continues to operate at 1475 Kubli Road, Grants Pass, Oregon.
