Pioneering Oregon Vineyards

Doerner Ranch Vineyard
1888-Present

Adam Doerner grew up in the Rheinpfalz area of Germany and emigrated to the U.S. He settled in California and worked for a year at the Beringer Winery. Then he ended up relocating to the Umpqua Valley and settled near Roseburg.

He purchased land and planted grapes. Historical records say he planted his first vines around 1888. Some of the old vines are still around and producing a few grapes. Over the years the vineyard has been replanted to various U.C. Davis clones.

As far as we know the vineyard still remains in the Doerner family who continue to farm it and use the grapes for their own winery.
